Neues Schwarz has been at the forefront of specialty coffee in Germany’s Ruhr region for more than a decade. The family-run roastery helped shape a coffee culture that now stretches far beyond Dortmund, combining curiosity, quality, and a deep connection to origin.
Last December, we travelled through Ethiopia together with co-founder Benedikt. While his coffee buying journey had consistently brought him to Gedeb in the Yirgacheffe zone, this trip offered the opportunity to explore Ethiopia’s southern coffee regions in person. Walking farms, visiting washing stations, and the coffee communities turned into one of the highlights of the season.
Bene and Marco will be brewing a selection of favourites, including a lot from the Operation Cherry Red Smallholder Series and the famous Kenyan station Kii. Expect great coffees, stories from the road, and a chance to meet one of the roasters that helped put specialty coffee on the map in western Germany.
